LANDMARK is a leading landscape and hardscaping company in the Greater Cedar Rapids & Iowa City area. We’re passionate about creating beautiful and functional outdoor spaces for our clients, and we're looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Crew Lead to join our team in the Landscape Construction Division!
What You’ll Do:
As a key member of our Landscape Construction Division, you'll lead crews and oversee all aspects of landscape construction projects. This includes bringing designs to life by:
Constructing hardscapes: You'll direct the construction of patios, walkways, retaining walls, and other hardscape features using various materials like pavers, natural stone, and concrete.
Installing softscapes: You'll guide the planting of trees, shrubs, flowers, and the installation of sod to create lush and vibrant landscapes.
Implementing irrigation systems: You'll oversee the installation of irrigation systems to ensure the health and beauty of our clients' landscapes.
But it's more than just building! You'll also be responsible for:
Crew Leadership: Leading, mentoring, and coordinating the daily work activities of a landscape construction crew of 2 to 4 employees.
Project Management: Ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This includes coordinating labor, equipment, and materials.
Site preparation: Overseeing grading, excavating, and ensuring proper drainage.
Equipment operation: Operating and overseeing the safe operation of various equipment like skid steers, mini excavators, and other tools.
Safety & Quality Control: Managing safety, quality, and productivity of work at sites and/or shop/yard.
Client Communication: Meeting and/or communicating with customers – always in a polite and courteous manner – before, during, and/or after project completion.
Snow and Ice Events: This position is expected to remain continuously on-call for snow/ice events beginning each November and continuing through the month of March, including nights, weekends & holidays. **Additional shift premium of $7.50/hour applies to all snow/ice events*
What You'll Bring:
We're looking for someone who is passionate about landscaping, has a keen eye for detail, and thrives in a leadership role. Ideally, you have:
2+ years of experience in the landscape/construction industry
Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, guide, and mentor team members
Ability to read, interpret & execute blueprints and specifications
Knowledge of hardscaping techniques, plant installation, and basic construction principles
Excellent communication (both verbal and written) & time management skills
A strong work ethic and a commitment to quality craftsmanship
Valid driver’s license (Class A CDL preferred¹) & insurance in good standing
Must be at least 18 years old
Ability to perform frequent bending, twisting, kneeling & squatting and able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs; Excellent stamina is required.
¹ Class A CDL MUST be obtained within 6 months of employment start date

Job Type: Full-time
Compensation: $22.00 to $35.00 per hour (DOE)
